Wine advocate rates Castel Grand Vin 91
The 2007 GRAND VIN, reviewed now from bottle for the first time, is the best since the 2004, and a contender for the best yet, although let’s be conservative at the moment and check back in a couple of years to see where it is. It has good depth, relative to Castel’s style, but simply exuberant, ripe and youthful fruit. In Castel’s style, it manages to meld that fruit into an elegant whole and show some complexity, too. There are touches of olives on the lingering finish, but the exuberant, young fruit cannot be ignored at the moment; it asserts itself and takes over. If Castel is by reputation somewhat elegant and intellectual, this wine, at least at this moment, is showing more sex appeal. This is one of those wines that manages to be elegant without being wimpy, and keeps on delivering flavor on the finish, which is succulent and crisp. The tannins are a bit prominent at the moment, but they are ripe and they should integrate beautifully. Expect this to become more sedate and harmonious with age. Drink now-2020.

טעימת יינות ישראל 2010
לקראת תערוכתISRAWINEXPO 2010 ערכנו את טעימת ישראל השנתית המסורתית והגדולה. פנינו אל יקבי ישראל גדולים כקטנים לשלוח אלינו יינות שייצגו את היקב בטעימה, לפי ראות עיניהם וללא שום הכוונה או הגבלת איכות ומחיר. לאור מספרם ההולך וגדל של יקבי ישראל בשנים האחרונות, נאלצנו להגביל את מספר היינות הנטעמים והבחירה הייתה לא קלה ליקבים, שעמדו בגבורה במשימה. מרבית היקבים הוכיחו הרבה בגרות וביטחון בכוחם ושלחו יינות יומיומיים וטריוויאליים בצד יינות גדולים. בסך הכל צוות הטועמים שלנו, שמנה הפעם 26 טועמים, טעם ובדק למעלה מ-140 יינות.
יינות אדומים:

צבע ארגמן גורדו עמוק ביותר. בשומת עשירה, מעניינת ומרשימה מאוד, הרבה פירות יבשים ותיבול עשיר וטוב, בשרניות וחייתיות ועץ איכותי ונעים. גוף מלא, הפה ארוך ומלא, אלגנטי ונעים מאוד, פרי שחור בשל, פרי גרגרי, ריבת שזיפים איכותית, וניל ושוקולד ועץ קלוי טוב. השיורת ארוכה, עקבית וטובה מאוד. יין מצוין, צעיר מאוד עם הרבה זמן לפניו. יקב קסטל.

צבע זהב בהיר צלול. בשומת נדיבה ועשירה, הרבה פרי, מלון, ליצ'י, מנגו, עץ משתלב היטב, קוקוס, וניל, לחם ושקדים קלויים, מינראלים. הפה מעט כבד ושמנוני, פרי טוב, חמיצות קלה ומאוזנת. השיורת בינונית עד ארוכה באורכה, מינראלית, מעט חומצית ונעימה. יין טוב, אף טוב מהפה. יקב קסטל.

The 2008 BLANC DU CASTEL is bright and mouth gripping, but also well marked with oak—a little too well marked for my taste. That said, this combines elegance and a grip on the finish, and it is still a pretty nice Chardonnay, with a lot of positive virtues, including its bright, lovely finish. But I just had a little too much vanilla too often. I’ll admit this grew on me, and I have some expectation that the oak will integrate a bit with some time, but I’m going to be conservative at the moment. By any measure, it is a very fine Chardonnay. Casher. Impressionnant par son niveau de concentration et d'intensite du fruit qui garde une fraicheur exceptionnelle. Boise remarquable. De la seve, de la race, une colonne vertebraledigne des plus grands vins du Medoc. Belle texture tannique. 18/20.
